ABIOLA NGOs
ABIOLA consists of 3 non-profit NGOs. An association, a non-profit company and a foundation (this has yet to be renamed). Here is the ABIOLA website: www.abiola.ngo
ABIOLA Light Portal
The ABIOLA Light Portal is an elaborately created Internet portal that introduces aid projects, training centers and families who have received or should receive ABIOLA SolarKits. See www.abiola.ngo/lp. The documentation of all aBIOLA solar kits handed over is important for proving the charity and public relations of ABIOLA as an NGO.
The ABIOLA light portal offers the possibility to make a donation for projects/families with little effort. This is also possible via PayPal. However, these donations are not decisive for ABIOLA, as ABIOLA has its own funds to be able to donate the SolarKits of the projects/families presented in the light portal even without donations. For example, ABIOLA will deliver about 1,000 SolarKits to Africa by 2020.

The different types of support with ABIOLA Families SolarKits
1. Rewards for very poor families
Individual families are only entered in the ABIOLA LichtPortal in exceptional cases. Typically, multiple families are grouped together. We call it “Project with Families” in the LightPortal. One is described below.

First go to the Abiola light portal www.abiola.ngo/lp on the Internet. Then choose “Country = Uganda” AND Type = Select projects with family ” AND Status = All” and then press the yellow button. The project ID 58 is now displayed. The texts are available in English and French. Then click on the link “Linked Families”. Then all 53 widows from the project are presented individually. These widows have already received their SolarKits.
Then select the “Country = Ghana” and “Type = All/All”. Now many “projects with families” from Ghana are displayed. Clicking on “Gallery” will make sure that only the pictures of the families are displayed. These can then be scrolled freely. The content (images and text) does not come from ABIOLA, but from the maintainers of the respective NGOs. More details can be found in the ABIOLA blog www.abiola.ngo/19
2. Rewards for NGO employees in Africa
A nice example of this is the project with ID 30. This is easy to find in the ABIOLA LichtPortal. To do this, you select the “advanced search” and search for “ID No” = 30″. However, care must be taken to restore the two settings “Type” and “Country” to “All”. In this case, the “Gallery” button must also be reset. This project ID 30 is a hospital in Liberia. Before, they had no electric light. In the meantime, they have received an ABIOLA Charger, which allows them to illuminate about ten rooms. A notebook can also be operated. In addition, all 20 employees received an ABIOLA Family SolarKit for home as a reward for their work.
An interesting tip on how to find a family or project in a different way:
This is done via a direct URL search. All you have to do is append the ID number to the ABIOLA website. In the current example, www.abiola.ngo/30.
This is how the project reports itself. However, if you want the project with the link to the families, then the letter “f” must be written in front of the ID number. So www.abiola.ngo/f30 .

3. Microcredit – Installment payment for the SolarKit
This variant is currently being developed. It was proposed by a friendly NGO. We have been told that many people in Africa do not want to have the SolarKit as a gift, but that they do not have the money to buy it either. Therefore, an instalment payment would be ideal for these individuals. In such projects, we imagine not presenting every single person with a photo in the light portal, but only the group itself. At the presentation of the group many beautiful pictures and an impressive text should be deposited.

Our partners decide for themselves how big the groups are. For ABIOLA, however, it is good if the groups usually consist of 20-50 families. Some NGOs contribute to the costs. However, this is not absolutely necessary.
How are the images and texts of a project entered?
The simplest form is when the NGO provides us with all the pictures and texts of the projects or families. This would be possible by e-mail, only then there are often problems with data transmission. For this purpose there are also special online tools such as WETransfer or similar. This is described in more detail in Blog Post 22 (below). See www.abiola.ngo/22
Experienced NGOs, who frequently work with ABIOLA, can also register all families and projects themselves in the web-based ABIOLA light portal. It’s easy to learn. All data entered by the NGO employee does not automatically go online, but is checked and released by ABIOLA beforehand.
